Mirza Is A Respected Elder Who Survived Long Years In Harsh Refugee Detention. Mirza Struggled With Serious Long Term Illness In Surabaya Detention Centre. * We Fought For Years To Support Him And Find The Medical Care Needed. * FINALLY, We Secured A Humanitarian Visa for Him To Move To A Free Country. * We Have No Control Over Where He Would be Relocated. The USA Was Chosen.
The USA Was NEVER Easy Or Good For Mirza. We Wanted To Bring Him To Aust. Under The TRUMP Administration Life Has Become Hell For Beloved Mr Mirza.
Mirza Awaits A Green Card and The Supports That Come With That. He Has Been Told It Will Be Years Before that Can Happen If Ever. We’ve Heard The Stories Of Those Who Wait And Wait To become ‘LEGAL’. * We’re Advised To Organise Legal Support Before His Next Immigration Meeting. * We’re Advised To Resource Him To Stay Off The Streets. Not In Contact With ICE.
* Case Worker Support and Other Programs Have Been Completely Defunded. * Costs Are Enormous. Doctors Fees Out Of Reach. Medicines Ridiculously Costly. * Mirza Is Hugely In Debt. He Must Borrow To Pay For Food, Medicines & Basics. * He Needs Kidney, Intestine & Other Surgeries But Cannot Afford Medical Tests. * Mirza Struggles To Live With PTSD, Diabetes, High Blood Pressure and Pain. * There Is No Way He Can Pay For Surgery In The Crazily Expensive US System. * Mirza has been told He CANNOT Bring His Family From Pakistan To Join Him Adding To His Stress And Isolation.

*Plan options for surgery and medical needs with specilaist doctors which will cost.

Asylum Art Helps refugees to create art and beauty in detention while they wait for the opportinity of freedom in a new land. We keep them alive and well and busy.
Our work is to help refugees survive detention and find freedom and sponsorship in safe new countries. Some of these refugees have been in detention for ten or twelve long years due to the inhumane policies of successive governments.
We help refugees with humanitarian or other visa applications, with funds for medical needs, support and funds for settlement in a new country and help with starting life and creating community in a new land. Asylum Art helps in every step of the freedom journey. We keep it safe for those who have known unsafety.
Mirza’s Art Is Displayed On This Fundarising Page. We Met Mirza When He joined one of our arts programs while he was in refugee detention. Mirza was detained in very harsh conditions for YEARS before we secured a humanitarian visa for him.
